There is a tiny chip on the rim of the cup (see last photo). The flaw has been addressed with a technique popularized in Japan for mending broken ceramics and pottery known as Kitsugi
Information about Kitsugi from nomliving dot com:
Kintsugi , or Kintsukuroi , literally golden (“kin”) and repair (“tsugi”). Kintsugi is the process of repairing ceramics traditionally with lacquer and gold, leaving a gold seam where the cracks were.
Unfortunately, the chip cannot be mended due to the small area affected. Gold leaf was solely used as a means of addressing the issue.
