First edition (print number not stated) hardcover copy of Personal Memoirs of U. S. Grant by Ulysses S. Grant (Charles L. Webster & Company, 1885). The first volume in this political autobiography by the 18th President of the United States, published shortly after his death the same year. With auto-pen inscription and signature and maps/illustrations/photographs throughout. A very well-preserved copy with shelf wear to covers, especially around the edges. Corners bumped and with some frayed areas around edges. Binding faintly split in a few gutters though spine is straight, hinges are secure and binding remains quite strong on the whole. Some sparse and faint soiling towards outer edges of a few pages, otherwise all pages are clean and unmarked though tanned. See photos for condition.
