Sony 8FS-40W Super Rare Vintage 60's Transistor Stereo AM/FM Reciever-like Radio

First thing you notice is the wonderful sleek, minimalist aesthetic of this super rare radio. This radio is significant for Sony design as it is a transitional design from transistor radios to receivers. This radio, just predates when Sony began manufacturing receivers with a similar aesthetic in 1965.

This thing is a beast. It measures 14 wide by 8 high by 5 deep and weighs 12 pounds! It’s a solid 40 Watts and has a hefty power transformer inside for AC power. It does not come with a cord, but could a GTK-X power cord fit? This one does work on batteries, too. I tested it.

The FM band initially came in with tons of stations very loud…then all of the sudden it didn’t. lol. The AM band gets a number of stations loud and clear. I really hope an electronics guy will restore it to former glory!
